so heres a question..
lets say that maybe michelle or anton has more to say than me or ian for example.. do we each still need 4 slides, or can we split them up accordingly? i’m just sayin that i do’nt want people to cut out stuff that’s super important just cuz they are restricted to 4 slides.

as for this revolutionary meeting…the best time for me would be like tuesday maybe afternoon, between 12 and 4. if we’re talking weekend, sunday anytime really.

regardless, i think it would be highly beneficial for everyone to have a solid understanding of the readings going into meeting 1 so we can maximize efficiency.

To all faithful Barricudans and loyal viewers of the Barracuda lifestyle,

The presentation date is indeed fast approaching, and perhaps thinking about it (the presentation, not the date) in more detail would be beneficial for our group. I can speak for myself in saying that my workload thins out significantly after this week, so I will be ready to contribute both completely and relentlessly next week.

When works best for a “groundbreaking” (or if you will “testing the waters”) meeting to begin developing our ideas?

Readings Presentation

How do you guys want to go about our presentation? Should we divide the work somehow? We should also think of ways that we can involve the class that has to do with the readings. Thoughts?

In Reflection

I thought we could share thoughts in preparation for the assignment. Obviously the focus for our power point will be the concept of appropriation applied to our own theories and take on the idea. What I’m really interested in is the visual elements that are going to support the dialogue. It would be interesting to try and create a powerpoint that speaks for itself through the interpreted meanings of the visual elements.  I would much rather talk less and show more.

My Primal Scene.

Hello all,

It seems i’ve dropped the ball on this primal scene business. Well i’m still working on an idea for this project, but I have a very distinct primal scene in mind.

When I was about 8 I used to (and still do actually) have nightmares about my family. For some reason, someone in my family would die during my dreams despite all my efforts to save them. One night I dreamt I was in an old abandoned warehouse. Somehow, it was filled with water. For some reason the water was churning all around me, as if  huge  jets, ( the kind you find in hot tubs)  were all blowing at full blast.

My brother was with me in the dream. He was only 1 at the time, and I had to hold him up to keep him from drowning. I was carrying him and swimming toward the door to get out of the warehouse when a huge man grabbed my brother. I still can’t remember what  he looked like, but my dream was in black and white so his face was covered in shadow throughout the dream.When the man grabbed my brother, I did my best not to let go, but I was 8 and the man was strong. He held my brother under the churning water and I watched and screamed. Then I woke up.

When I woke up I screamed for my parents to come to my room. My 1 year old brother was sleeping with them in thier room, but it never occured to me that I might wake him up. My parent’s room was across the hall and I expected them to come running. I can still remember yelling for them to come, but they didn’t hear me. I had been screaming so loudly that our next door neighbours heard and called the police. Oddly, when the police rang the door bell to our house, my parents got up. Needless to say, it was a long night of explainations on my part. Somehow, I had convince the cops I was just having a bad dream, and not being beaten or something. Finally after an hour or so, they left and my parents and I had a long talk.

That night, was definately filled with emotion. And to this day I am still confused as to why my parents couldn’t hear me screaming.

my primal scene in all its gory details…

so here we go.

im 15 years old playing rep hockey with dreams of playing junior within the next 2 years. during a game, i am racing a guy back for an icing. he trips me up and i go down to my knees and slide face/knees first into the board at full speed.

at this point im on my hands and knees barely concious really and notice im bleeding from somewhere on my face and a little pool is forming on the ice. no big deal i think, and try to get up. its then i realize that both of my knees are pretty much destroyed. my knees were not supporting my body at all and i just crumpled back to the ground. the confusion i felt at this point is a feeling i havent felt before or since. it probably had a lot to do with me hitting my head, but i kept trying to stand and simply crumpled back to the ground and became increasingly frustrated by this.

eventually i just stop and lay down, andas i lay on my back, knees torn, in a pool of my own blood, unable to stand, staring at the panicked eyes of the trainer and my mom (yes she came running on the ice), i felt a variety of emotions, but no pain.  i was confused that i could not stand, frustrated that i probably would not play hockey again for long time, therefore ruining my chances of making junior, and oddly enough mad at myself that i couldnt just get up and skate away. weird right.

im gonna leave it at that before i fill this entire page.

So about the hypericonomy, to translate, we need to find items for each of the categories and then find some way of unifying them all under one concept or image. So I have chosen part of a speech for the history, a song for the popculture. I’m still not crazy about the whole personal experience thing. I have an idea and it unifies my concept well. I hope this as easy as it sounds otherwise I’m seriously missing something. OH yeah the html…..
